VIBE CTRL SETUP GUIDE

Get your device ready.

For version 0.1.0 / build 1. Start with desktop controls, then set up voice input when you need it.

Connect and grant permissions

  1. Install on an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 13 or later.
  2. Pair a remote over Bluetooth, or connect a controller over Bluetooth or USB.
  3. Enable Accessibility when prompted. Supported remotes may also need Input Monitoring and Bluetooth permissions.

Check the device status, then test desktop controls.

Default remote controls

Direction ringArrow keys
ConfirmReturn
BackEscape
HomeHome
TVSwitch apps / ⌘Tab
VolumeSystem volume

Change mappings to scrolling or other actions in the app. Behavior depends on the foreground app.

Buttons and app profiles

Open Button Mapping or select a button in the device preview to assign mouse actions, scrolling, and shortcuts.

Use a general profile, the Codex profile, or add a profile for another app. Save to apply your changes. Automatic switching selects the profile for the foreground app.

Codex, Claude, and Cursor

Codex has a built-in profile with actions for the command menu (⌘K), previous/next chat (⌘⌥← / ⌘⌥→), and chats needing attention (⌘⌥A). Codex mode limits regular mappings to Codex in the foreground; Automatic selects profiles by foreground app.

Claude and Cursor currently use general mappings. Add their .app in Button Mapping to save separate shortcuts; dedicated presets are not yet available.

For voice, configure the microphone and use the same shortcut in your dictation app and VIBE CTRL, focus the target text field, then hold to speak and release to finish. Text is not sent automatically. Shortcuts depend on the target app’s support and settings.

Voice from a remote

  1. Confirm Bluetooth voice pairing. Run an audio test and hold the voice button to check levels; the test does not start dictation.
  2. Install the optional VIBE CTRL microphone with administrator authorization. Select it in your dictation app and match shortcuts.
  3. Focus a text field. Hold to speak and release to finish.

Dictated text is not sent automatically.

Compatibility and changing devices

Available controller inputs depend on macOS support. Remote integration is limited to specific hardware and firmware; not every model is compatible. Contact us to confirm before purchasing. Dedicated PlayStation support is not yet available.

Disconnect the current device before connecting another. Settings are saved per device.

Default controller controls

Left stickMove pointer
Right stickScroll
A / B / XClick / Escape / Tab
RT + AReturn
Hold View for 1 secondPause or resume

Pause desktop controls before gaming. Shortcut behavior depends on the target app and its settings.

Dictation from a controller

LT triggers Right Command by default. Assign the same shortcut in your dictation tool and select the microphone it should use.

VIBE CTRL does not receive controller audio. Your dictation tool produces the text.

Inputs register, but nothing happens?

Check pause status, Accessibility permission, the control mode, and the foreground app.

If audio levels appear but no text arrives, check the virtual microphone, the dictation tool’s input device and shortcut, and the active text field. Dev and release apps need separate permissions. Dev stops output while the release app is running.

Optional Codex usage display

Device controls do not require Codex. The optional usage display reads your locally signed-in Codex CLI. Turn it off in Settings → General without affecting controller or remote controls.
